The Jackson Generals nosed out the Owensboro Pirates 4 to 3 at Southside Park today in the opening game of a three-game stand.

Bunching four hits to tally a trio of markers in the third stanza after one had been marked up in the second paved way for the Jackson victory. Owensboro enjoyed a big fourth, counting three, but was unable to produce the tying score. It was the thirteenth game the Bucs had dropped on one-run decisions.

Gray went the route for the victors. Helvy started for the Pirates, was relieved by Gassaway in the third who was removed for a pinch hitter, and Fitzgerald finished the game.
