Jackson Loses Again
The Owensboro Pirates enjoyed a big sixth inning, scoring four runs which paved the way for a 7 to 3 victory over the league leading Jackson Generals to take the series 2-1. Friday the Bucs open a two-game stand with Lexington on the latter’s grounds.
With one down in the first, two bunched hits by Murdaugh and White tallied a run for the visitors. In the third, aided by an Owensboro error, three hits were garnered for a pair of runs. This proved to be all the scoring Jackson was able to do as Gassaway was supreme from then on.
The first five Pirates up in the sixth hit safely to tally four runs and it was showers for Mr. Hodge, who was replaced on the hill by Jess Webb. Webb was slapped for two more in the seventh and Gassaway hit a homer in the eighth over the right field slabs.
