Triple Play Marks Double Owensboro Win

The Owensboro Pirates took both ends of a twin bill with the Mayfield Clothiers here this afternoon winning the opener by 5 to 2 and capturing the nightcap by a 6 to 3 score.

Featuring the first game was a triple play pulled by Mayfield in the fifth with Hurrell, Barnhart, Gurian and Neisler participating. Durheim went the route and celebrated his return after an absence of three weeks due to a toe infection by hurling beautiful ball.

Gassaway was never in any serious trouble in the second game after Owensboro deadlocked the score in the second inning. Until the seventh Gassaway had allowed only two well scattered hits.

The felding and hitting of Chet Clemens and Red Johnson was out standing for the victors.
