Owensboro Wins, 9 to 1

Behind the powerful hitting of George Gregory, who poled out two home runs and a triple in four times at the plate, the Owensboro Pirates today won over the Hopkinsville Hoppers by 9 to 1. It was the largest week day crowd of the year.

It was the second straight victory over the Hoppers and the fourth of the half against no defeats. Larmouth, starting for the visitors, was knocked from the box in the fifth after the Bucs’ five consecutive hits. Helvey, who started for Owensboro, was handicapped by a sore shoulder and removed in the fourth after striking out five men.
